  • God-centered, Bible-preaching small fellowship of believers who are very friendly and welcoming, esp. Pastor Gene. Don't screw up like I did, though. The man who teaches Sunday school is given no title in the bulletins. Just his name. And whenever someone introduced him to me it was by first name only, including by the Pastor. No reference was ever made about a title till our last Sunday there after about three months. But he carried himself and talked as if he was the Pastor or something. I thought he was probably a retired secular administrator with a few Liberty or Moody College courses who thought he was as authoritative as the REAL Pastor Gene and was possibly developing a competitive socio-politcal position for some self-serving reason. Consequentially, when the opportunity availed itself during Sunday school I challenged whatever non or loosely Biblical supported thing he said. It wasn't too often. But it was often enough for a couple of the members to get very defensive and run interference for him and distract me from his and mine dialogue in the foyer after Sunday school and create a scenario for him to exit. Others joined in the next couple of Sundays w/apprehensive or anxious distancing from me. The two who ran interference were very gentle and nice about it but I really wish they had informed me in a round about way why! Then one Sunday 2-3 weeks later Pastor Gene referred to him as Pastor Don!!! A Pastor!!! No one ever gave me a clue till them! He was not listed in bulletin as a Pastor or Assistant Pastor or retired Pastor, just Don _____. I sure do wish that they had orientated me better to their social setting!!! I meant NO disrespect to man of God but I am sure it REALLY looked that way. Hence my last Sunday. Even if I explained and apologized i would always live that down.
